After a minor roof leak was fixed, a Pace homeowner was left with stained ceiling drywall and cracks that reopened each winter. They wanted repairs that would disappear under paint — not just a quick skim coat.
Stains were bleeding through prior paint, ceiling cracks followed truss movement, and texture mismatch made old patches obvious in raking light. The room needed structural repair sequencing before cosmetic painting.
Proper crack repair, stain blocking, and texture blending allowed a clean repaint with Agreeable Gray. The ceiling reads as one continuous surface with no ghost lines from the old damage.
Drywall repair and painting go hand in hand when homeowners want damage to truly disappear. This Pace project started with ceiling cracks and water staining that had been cosmetically painted over without addressing the underlying issues.
We routed and taped the ceiling cracks to create a flexible repair that moves with normal truss expansion. Nail pops were reset and floated flush so they would not telegraph through the new finish.
Water stains require stain-blocking primer — latex paint alone often allows tannins and residue to bleed back through within weeks. We sealed affected areas before texture matching and finish painting.
Orange-peel texture on the ceiling was blended using a hopper so repaired zones matched the existing pattern. Walls received SuperPaint in Agreeable Gray, a versatile neutral that helped unify the refreshed bedroom.
The entire scope — repair, prime, texture, and paint — completed in three days with sanding dust contained and surfaces protected. A final inspection used angled light to confirm no repair lines remained visible.
Homeowners in Pace, Milton, and Cantonment often call us when they need drywall repair before painting. This project shows the difference between covering damage and properly restoring the surface first.
