Project story

What the customer needed

A Cantonment homeowner scheduled an exterior repaint but wanted the siding properly cleaned first — previous attempts left mildew that would compromise new paint adhesion.

Problems we solved

Shaded north elevations had active mildew growth. High pressure alone risked forcing water behind vinyl siding. The owner needed washing integrated with the upcoming paint scope.

The finished result

Soft-washing with mildew treatment restored a clean substrate. We verified dry time and surface readiness, then transitioned into scraping, priming, and painting as part of the full exterior project.

Full project overview

Pressure washing before exterior painting is not just about appearance — it removes mildew, pollen, and chalky residue that prevent coatings from bonding. This Cantonment project was the prep phase of a full exterior repaint on a vinyl-sided home.

Shaded elevations had visible mildew streaking that would return through new paint if not treated with the right chemistry first. We applied a house wash solution, allowed proper dwell time, and rinsed with controlled pressure suited to vinyl siding.

Soft-wash technique reduces the risk of forcing water past laps and trim channels compared to aggressive high-pressure fan tips used too close to the surface. Soffits, fascia, and gutter faces were rinsed as part of the same visit.

Flat concrete areas that collected runoff were surface-cleaned so the property looked finished, not just partially washed. We documented dry conditions before the paint crew moved to scraping, caulking, and priming.

Many homeowners search for pressure washing and painting as separate services. Ocean Crest can handle both in a coordinated scope so prep standards match what the paint system requires.

For Cantonment, Pace, and north Escambia County properties with tree cover and shaded siding, this project shows why proper washing is the first step in a durable exterior finish — not an optional add-on.
